Recent & New Works - Notes on this Multi Media group exhibition
ERDMANNCONTEMPORARY is pleased to be working with Marna Hattingh. Her work fits well into our specialised area of comic art. We are also pleased to announce our collaboration with sculptor Haidee Nel. Nel is included in our upcoming exhibition, Conceptual Matter which opens in August.
Brendhan Dickerson latest Politizela series, is a must see! His sculptures are in the shape of vuvuzelas and AK 47 machine guns, and individually titled as VuvuZille, JujuZela, Zumazela and WinNieMADickiZela. This is political satire at it’s best.
Conceptualist, Jennifer Lovemore-Reed completely debunks the myth that one cannot make art without money. Most of the work on this exhibition was made with her own hair, her husband’s hair or simply collected from hair salons. Conceptual artist, Lynette Bester asked a few artists for items which they were tripping over. She received a collection of useless, broken and non functional objects. View the exhibition to see how this artist transformed these items into desirable artworks.
Barbara Wildenboer is another young conceptualist to watch. Known for her delicate paper sculptures, hand made books, installations and precision scalpel work.
We are also very pleased to welcome Kilmany-Jo Liversage to our stable of gallery artists. Liversage is a painter, who incorporates silk ribbons and steel pins onto her canvasses. She will have a solo exhibition at this gallery during September 2010.
We are also pleased to announce a solo exhibition later this year by Eastern Cape based painter Mark Hipper. Paintings by our talented gallery artists, Norman O’Flynn, Jan Neethling and Bronwen Vaughan-Evans and drawings by Elizabeth Gunter are also included in this exhibition. These are all collectable artists with promising and in some cases, established international careers.
We look forward to successful careers for newcomers, Lara Feldman and Rentia Bartlett, both are talented painters to be watched.

The Photographers Gallery za in Cape Town hosted the debut solo exhibition for Italian photographer, Erik Chevalier. The Family Safe focuses on Chevalier paternal grandfather’s photo album. Over the years, most of the photographs had been removed, and the album had become a book with descriptions of places and people no one knew or remembered. Chevalier took (or found) photographs which fitted the descriptions. Some of the photographs included had been taken by him between the ages 6 and 10 years old. Erik lives and works in Sardinia.
