Abrie Fourie

born 1969, lives and works in Berlin

Abrie Fourie’s work is characterized by capturing moments that shift the status of ordinary objects or occurrences and moves them into the realm of the extraordinary or even spiritual. His work has been featured in exhibitions in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Belgium, Switzerland, Colombia, New York, and Berlin.

He was nominated for the prestigious FNB Vita Art Award in 2002. In 2003 Fourie was announced the winner in the photography category of the Brett Kebble Art Awards. Fourie had a solo exhibition at the Museum of African Art in New York in 2005.

In 2007 Fourie was announced one of the seven winners of the Spier Contemporary 2007 Competition.
